M: Hi! Tom here. My car is broken. How are you going to office today?
W: I intend driving my car to get to work and get back.
M: Could I take a ride with you?
W: Certainly.

W: Wow, you are wet through! Didn’t you know there’s a thunderstorm today?
M: I knew there would be a shower, but I didn’t realize it would rain cats and dogs today.
W: Well, you’d better take a hot shower right now, or you’ll catch a cold.   
M: I know. I don’t want to get sick, especially during finals week.

W: Hey, you have so many clocks in your bedroom.   
M: Yeah, I want to make sure I can wake up in the morning.
W: But is there something wrong with your clocks?  None of them has the same time.
M: I do it on purpose. I set this clock ahead ten minutes, and this one back ten minutes, but I always set that one to the right time.   
W: So the alarms ring every ten minutes?   
M: Yeah.   
W: Are you crazy or what?   
M: No, I am a heavy sleeper. I need thunder to wake me up.

M: Hi, can I help you?   
W: No, thanks. I’m just looking.
M: All right.If you need any help, just let me know.My name is Greg.   
W: Sure. I’ll let you know if I need anything.   
M: Did you find something you like?
W: Yes, this bed cushion is very good.It’s pretty firm.The one I’m now sleeping on is loose.
M: You’re right. This is a very good brand.It doesn’t sink easily.We offer a life-time guarantee, so you don’t have to worry about its quality.   
W: Does it come with a frame?   
M: Unfortunately, it doesn’t.However, we could offer a ten percent discount on that.
W: That sounds good.I’ll think about it.
M: Well, you’ve got to hurry.This bed cushion sells pretty well and this promotion ends tomorrow.

M: This evening I interview Louise, a group leader at an outdoor adventure center for children. Louise, how long have you been there?
W: Well, before I first went there, two years ago, I thought I’d probably only stay for a year, but after six months or so I really started to enjoy the job. So I’ve been there ever since.
M: How were you getting on with your work in the beginning?
W: To be honest, I was lacking in self-confidence, and when I first arrived, I was a bit worried about making mistakes. I was frightened I might put the children in danger because of my inexperience.     
M: What’s the best thing about your work? 
W: One thing I like is seeing them have so much fun. And I can suggest activities that they haven’t tried before. But there are always some children who haven’t quite got as much ability as others, and for me the most rewarding part of the job is getting them to succeed in things they haven’t managed to do before. It’s hard work though. Sometimes I’m on duty at night.  
M: Mm. What do you think about that?
W: Well, I can’t say I look forward to starting work at 10:00 p.m., but the kids have to be looked after 24 hours so someone has to do it and all the staff take turns.

Thin kids especially want to know how to help their bodies grow and develop. My advice is: Eat a healthy balance of foods and get plenty of activities. Trying to gain weight by extra calories is a bad idea. It can make you feel sick and is not healthy — so just listen to your appetite and eat only as much as your body tells you to. If your size concerns you, talk with your mom or dad. They can help figure out whether you should see your doctor. Here’s another surprise. Kids who are thin need to exercise. A lot of people use exercise to keep their weight under control or to lose weight. But exercise serves many other purposes, too. For example, moving around helps you develop important skills and helps your body get stronger. And for kids who have gone through adolescence, weightlifting can build bigger muscles. In summary, treat your body right and you’ll grow and develop just the way you should.
